About

Featuring over a dozen musicians, the album took more than three years to complete and centres on a core trio of David, James Cooper and Antony Wretham.

David’s musical career began in 1970s cabaret bands before forming A Better Mousetrap with Brian Hulse in the early ’80s. After the band split, David and Brian joined Tim Bowness and Michael Bearpark to form Plenty, releasing several cassette compilations and appearing on Steven Wilson’s Double Exposure. Through the ’90s David performed in The Café Beatles, Darker Than Amber and The Fantasy Option, with two songs from that era reworked for the new album.

In the 2000s he played with jazz‑prog outfit Nerve Toy Trio, and since 2014 he has been bassist for Genesis tribute band Mama, including a 3,500‑capacity support slot for Vampire Weekend in 2024.

Plenty reunited in 2016, releasing It Could Be Home (2018) and the double album Enough (2021). David also contributed to Tim Bowness’s Moonshot project, co‑writing a track for the 2020 album Worlds of Yesterday.

David K Jones releases his second solo album, Scenes From The Dreaming Room, in March 2026.

During lockdown he released his first solo album Days in Corners, and revived A Better Mousetrap as The Mousetrap Factory, followed by the prog project Random Option in 2024.

He has also guested on albums by The Swan Chorus and on Tim Bowness’s Flowers At The Scene.

Now, in 2026, Scenes From The Dreaming Room arrives with guest vocals from Peter Goddard, Becky Haslam, Helen May and John Wilkinson, plus contributions from several guitarists and keyboardists including Wishbone Ash’s Mark Abrahams. Mixed by David and Brian and mastered by Brian, the album is available on CD and digital formats.
